With the lunar secrecy of its sand dunes and crystalline turquoise waters populated by marine turtles, Boa Vista is a desert island dream. There is always something going on, with festivals and carnivals practically every month, the main music festival being in August.
All ten islands of the Cape Verde archipelago, over 450km off the coast of Africa, enjoy a dry tropical climate and a constant 20%C. The island?s history goes back to the 15th century. Originally an agricultural community, it has suffered major desertification and switched to salt gathering. These days, date farming and tourism are the main economic resources. Most of the population lives in the city of Sal Rei, with tiny villages, mostly abandoned, scattered throughout the largely flat landscape.

It is an exotic African tropical getaway, ideal for yachting, water sports and beach holidays. The island enjoys a great many investment opportunities, from villas and apartments to hotels and businesses, and property increasing in value at the rate of over 8% per annum. Building restrictions preserve your investment. Apartments start for as little as £27,000 off plan or £40,000 for a completed condominium. Timeshares are also available.
