Verde (Cabo Verde from the Portuguese),
is majestically located on an archipelago
in the Macaronesia eco-region of
the North Atlantic Ocean, off the
coast of west Africa. The Cape Verde
islands were discovered by the Portuguese
in the 15th century, and the islands
were made part of the Portuguese
empire. In 1975, the islands achieved
their independence. The meaning
of Cape Verde is Green Cape. |
