Santiago Island is lies off the western coast of mainland Africa. Portuguese which is the official
language of the Cape Verde Islands. Discovered by the Portuguese in the 15th century they are a
favorite tourist destination of many today. The main industries are agriculture, tourism, fishing
and others, and lastly manufacturing. Main agricultural products are corn, sugar cane, banana,
coffee and mangoes. Santiago lies in a subtropical zone and varies from month of heavy rainfall
to nothing but a trickle of rain.
The surrounding volcanic islands offer plenty of possibilities for some interesting excursions and the property market is rather attractive made
by the fact that housing are still quite affordable. With the popularity of the tourism industry this could provide some nice returns on real
